Burnaby Girls SoccerClub try-outs
are open to all female players of the appropriate age-group.
·
Registration
will take place at all try-outs, however, it is not mandatory that
you register prior to . . .this is in accordance with BCSA
guidelines.
Insurance coverage runs from August 1 – July 31
regardless of the Club played for. If you are a ‘new’ player or
did not play the previous year, you must register to be covered by
the insurance.

Once try-outs
are completed and you are offered a placement, you will be
required to register and sign the North Districts ‘Parent Assent
Form” This means that in order to move to another team/club you
must apply for a transfer.
It is important to be aware that
if you have signed this form for another club prior to attending
BGSC try-outs you must then be released from that club BEFORE we
will offer you a placement.

It is the
policy of the BGSC to not ‘hold’ places for players who wish to
attend other try-outs, or who have and have not been released.

At the U11 (Select), U12 (Select), U13 (Gold & Silver)
and U14 (Metro, Gold & Silver) age levels, all try-outs will be conducted under the direction
of our Technical Director and a team of independent evaluators.
- Placement at
a level is done by the independent assessors, with the players assessed at the top of the group making the team and with the coach picking the last 3 – 6 players from a list provided by the evaluation team.

At all other
levels (U15 and older), the coaches of the age-group run their own tryouts and place all players.
Assistance is provided by the Technical Director if requested

All players
who attend try-outs will have a place to play with BGSC for the coming season at the level the player is assessed at.
- Players
wishing to play Bronze need only register to be placed on a team for the coming season

·All players
must attend try-outs to be placed unless medical certification of
injury is provided.
Note: there are always special circumstances (ie: injury, out of the country, etc) - please advise the club of your particular situation
Any questions
regarding try-outs can be directed towards the age-group co-ordinator,
the Technical Director, or President or Vice-President of the BGSC. Letting us know sooner will always make it easier to make adjustments based on circumstances.

(1) Mini Age Groups:
As Per N.D.Y.S.A
(2) Divisional Age Group:
All competitive teams shall be designated as "tryout" teams. Players
shall be retained or placed on the team roster based on the individual player's soccer
ability as determined by the team coach
No player or their parents shall be approached until that player's team has
completed all of its league and cup games, up to the Coastal Final.
Metro League teams shall advised the Club Executive when tryouts will be held so
that all players may be notified.
Metro League teams must complete tryouts and declare their initial rosters by
June 1.
Players who are unable to maintain a position on a team shall be afforded every
opportunity and should be encouraged to play for a team in another divisional
league.

Player Recruitment and Transfers

All teams are encouraged to recruit "new players" to fill roster
vacancies. (A "new player "is defined as a player not registered with our club
during the previous season, )
Teams are strongly encouraged to carry at least fourteen (14) and no more than
sixteen (16) whenever possible.
All teams (Silver, Gold, Metro and Mini) must abide by the 50% game time
participation rule for all their players during league play.
Tournament play- all players must receive playing time taking into account attendance at
practice, attitude and behaviour.
Once the season has commenced, team may not cut a player from their roster
without first obtaining Executive permission.
