Tryout Information for Parents
Burnaby Girls SoccerClub try-outs are open to all female players of the appropriate age-group.

· Registration will take place at all try-outs, however, it is not mandatory that you register prior to . . .this is in accordance with BCSA guidelines.

Insurance coverage runs from August 1 – July 31 regardless of the Club played for. If you are a ‘new’ player or did not play the previous year, you must register to be covered by the insurance.

· Once try-outs are completed and you are offered a placement, you will be required to register and sign the North Districts ‘Parent Assent Form” This means that in order to move to another team/club you must apply for a transfer.

It is important to be aware that if you have signed this form for another club prior to attending BGSC try-outs you must then be released from that club BEFORE we will offer you a placement.

  • · It is the policy of the BGSC to not ‘hold’ places for players who wish to attend other try-outs, or who have and have not been released.
  • · At the U11 (Select), U12 (Select), U13 (Gold & Silver) and U14 (Metro, Gold & Silver) age levels, all try-outs will be conducted under the direction of our Technical Director and a team of independent evaluators.
  • Placement at a level is done by the independent assessors, with the players assessed at the top of the group making the team and with the coach picking the last 3 – 6 players from a list provided by the evaluation team.
  • · At all other levels (U15 and older), the coaches of the age-group run their own tryouts and place all players. Assistance is provided by the Technical Director if requested
  • · All players who attend try-outs will have a place to play with BGSC for the coming season at the level the player is assessed at.
  • Players wishing to play Bronze need only register to be placed on a team for the coming season
  • ·All players must attend try-outs to be placed unless medical certification of injury is provided.
Note: there are always special circumstances (ie: injury, out of the country, etc) - please advise the club of your particular situation

Any questions regarding try-outs can be directed towards the age-group co-ordinator, the Technical Director, or President or Vice-President of the BGSC. Letting us know sooner will always make it easier to make adjustments based on circumstances.
